A West Coast Hideaway with a Bit of Glamour

February 16, 2016

Bedroom-Redesign-California-Glamou

This space is a really exciting project for me, because of who I get to design for (more on that later!).

The bedroom has basic furniture pieces that we’ll keep, but mostly needs an overhaul other than that. One piece that the client wants to keep is a pink velvet chair. It’s inspired the ‘glamour’ side of the space, and we’ll be mixing in a bit more pink, as well as pieces with modern, West Coast feels to them. We’ll also be bringing in some deep greens and lots of brass and wood.

Very, very exciting to really get going on this project. Updates to come!

Throw a Galentines Party

February 8, 2016

Galentines-Cupcakes-7

The idea of a galentines party is too fun, I couldn’t help but put some ideas together for a little get together with your nearest and dearest. I say keep it simple, but add some fun, old school Valentines touches, just for kicks (pink and white roses, anyone?).

Galentines-Cupcakes-1

Mix up a batch of cupcakes, decorate a few, and then leave some for your friends to decorate while they’re sipping drinks.

Pick up some flowers to decorate the cupcakes. I think the more old fashioned romantic, the better.

Vintage glassware is so pretty when mixed and matched (throw a few standard cocktail tumblers in there as well to tone down the fancy).

Here’s a recipe for a very delicious (and very pink) rose cocktail.

Do you have any Valentines traditions? Hate the day? I’d love to hear!

Sweet Happenings Garden Gathering

September 17, 2015

Sweet-Happenings-5

A couple of weeks ago, we held our second Sweet Happenings event. Last year we had a few friends over to enjoy food, drinks, and good conversation. This year, we gathered old friends and new friends for a Parisian garden gathering. I’m super inspired by the simplicity and easy beauty of Parisian style. It never seems stuffy or overdone. We wanted to create an event that would put people at ease, and give everyone the opportunity to make new friends and chat about what they love to do.

Check out some of my favourite moments from the event, after the jump.

An Airy, Midcentury Retreat

Kendra-Bedroom-Makeover-2

With the launch of Kit + Forage, I’m starting to take on some interior styling projects. This mood board is for a bedroom that just needs a little spruce up. It already has neutral walls and pretty wood floors, so this project is all about taking it to the next level and adding those extra, personalized touches.

We’ll be working with some of the items that are already in the space, but giving them new life. Here’s a little breakdown of the plan:

  1. Add Rifle Paper Co. wallpaper to one big wall.
  2. Paint the existing dresser white and add new hardware (pull and knob).
  3. Add some glamour to these end tables with a 5 minute Ikea hack.
  4. Swap out the hanging light fixture for an updated matte black option (this one has a gold underside!).
  5. Pair the space down with fluffy white bedding and some neutral accessories.
  6. Add some pattern and colour with throws and pillows (light blue pillow and dark blue pillow).

Can’t wait to share more glimpses as the space develops! Keep your eye on Instagram for updates :)

And if you need a hand pulling your space together, I offer both in-person styling and e-design. Send me an email — I’d love to work with you!

Florals For: Springtime!

March 26, 2015

Easter-Flowers-Rananculas-2

Well, spring is officially here and in Vancouver that means RAIN. We had gorgeous weather up until last Friday, and then beginning on the first official day of spring, our weather turned to rain, rain, and more rain. I’m not complaining since the rain is always nice and cozy, but I also wouldn’t mind a bit more sunshine around here! But thankfully, we can create our own sunshine, and this week I’m bringing it to you in the form of some pretty blooms.

Spring Time Brunch

March 19, 2015

Easter-Brunch-8 Easter-Brunch-9

With the first day of spring just around the corner, I thought it would be fun to make some plans for a little brunch! I’ll be pulling out these settings for Easter brunch in a couple of weeks.

For this setting, I wanted to keep things really light and bright.

Here are some of the ingredients that I used that you could pull together from the thrift shop, your cupboard, and your favourite florist.

  • Linen fabric for the tablecloth
  • Brass candle holders in a variety of shapes and heights
  • Cream coloured candle sticks
  • White dishes with delicate patterns
  • Gold flatware
  • Glassware and mugs
